Character Design
Yuezheng Ling, drawn by illustrator ideolo, is a re-painted and official character design of a VOCALOID™ CHINA PROJECT Singer Audition participant, Ling Caiyin (or Ayane Aya, Chinese: 綾彩音), originally designed by rikuhao. The original design contest was held between Dec. 1st 2011 and Jan. 17th, 2012, and the final design was announced in the VOCALOID CHINA character design finalizations in Mar. 22nd, 2012.
The design of Caiyin was not succeeded into the final design of Ling. About the original design, see Ling Caiyin.
The relationship between Ling and Caiyin is not that of original and spin-off designs; instead, it is that of official and draft designs.

Name Related
The source of her surname Yuezheng (樂正) is believed to be a name of an official post in the Zhou Dynasty, which were in charge of music, rhymes and court band management. Their posterities, who honored the official post, had later adopted the title into their surnames.
