Overview
Princess Celestia's pet, her species is Phoenix.
First appeared in S1E22A Bird in the Hoof.
History
A Bird in the Hoof
First appeared in S1E22A "A Bird in the Hoof", appearing in a corner during a party held to welcome Princess Celestia's visit.
Initially seemed weak, coughing and shedding and out of control.
Fluttershy thought it could be cured, so she took it to her home without telling anyone.
Throughout the incident, Fluttershy tried her best to heal Philomena, but she had never seen a bird so uncooperative; all the treatments she had tried before seemed unable to stop her condition from getting worse.
Philomena eventually escapes, causing Fluttershy and Twilight Sparkle to chase her through Ponyville and they are eventually found, but after losing her last feather, Philomena explodes into flames.
The turned into ashes and appeared in the sight of Fluttershy crying, and Princess Celestia arrived shortly after. The princess bent her head over the ash heap and told the ponies. Her pet's mischief frightened all the ponies. Suddenly, Philomena rose again, taking on a new, healthy form.
Magical Mystery Cure
In S3E13 Magical Mystery Cure, Philomena's ashes appear in one of Fluttershy's flashbacks.
