Mayday is a Taiwanese rock band.
History
Career
- Mayday, formerly known as "So Band", was formed in 1995 by students studying at the Senior High School Affiliated to National Taiwan Normal University. The members include guitarist and head Monster (Wen Shangyi), lead singer Ashin (Chen Xinhong), and the first drummer Qian Youda and the bassist Martha (Cai Shengyan) who joined later. In 1997, guitarist Stone (Shi Jinhang) joined.
- In 1997, in order to participate in the Formoz Festival held in Daan Forest Park, Taipei City, Masa's BBS ID "MAYDAY" was used as the group name, and the name was officially changed on the day of the festival (March 29, 1997). "May Day", and set this day as the anniversary of the formation of the orchestra.
- In 1999, the current drummer Ming (then named Yan Ming) officially joined. On July 7 of the same year, their debut studio album "Mayday's First Album" was released.
- From October 2001 to July 2003, they were temporarily on hiatus due to member service. On November 11, 2003, the first studio album "Time Machine" was released after the comeback.
- In 2012, they performed in Beijing Bird's Nest (National Stadium), in 2014 in Madison Square Garden, and in 2015 in Nippon Budokan. They are the first Chinese band to hold a concert there.

- In 2014, their song "Angel was used as the insert song in the movie Meet the Pegasus.
- In 2017, member Masa voiced Batman in the animated film The Lego Batman Movie.
- In May 2018, they became the spokespeople of Honor of Kings in Taiwan and sang the team spirit title song "I Will Carry You".
- In 2019, the song "Good (Want to Write You as a Song)" included in the ninth album "Autobiography" became a song to promote the animated film Your Name. in the Taiwan areas.
